As you know DUOX is the first full digital system in the market that requires two non-polarized wires for: power, audio, video & data transmission.
In this technology, the best characteristics of our previous systems converge: the high performance and great capacity of MDS, the competitive price and wiring flexibility of VDS and finally the installation simplicity of BUS2.
In this article we would like to point out some remarks and tips that you have to take into consideration when projecting and installing a DUOX system:
1._ Configuration of buttons panel.
If in the installation we have more than one panel, then it is mandatory to configure them accordingly, otherwise the system will not behave properly. Basically you have to set the mode of the panel (General entrance, block or sub-block) and a different number of panel (Maximum ten panels at each level). In the specific case that the panel is a buttons panel, for the time being to perform this operation it is necessary to use a Ref.7439 Skyline direct keypad. Note that there are 2 types of DUOX amplifier: Kit amplifier with 5 vias connector and Skyline amplifier with 6 vias connector. In case of the kit amplifier you will need a Ref.2542 cable with 5 vias, connected from the amplifier to the keypad. Note that the right pin of the keypad remains free. See below picture and enclosed manual, pg.44.
For DUOX kits from 3 to 24 ways, as they include the call extension pack, a cable with 5 vias is already available. But if you have to connect more than one kit panel of the type 1 or 2 ways, then you need additionally to get a Ref.2542 cable with 5 vias for the setting.
2._ Programming of telephones.
In order to program the telephones you need previously to set the panel as Master. See below slide.
Note that by default the amplifiers come from manufacturing in Slave mode. If there were simultaneously 2 amplifiers as Master we would face conflicts in the installation.
3._ External mechanical button.
In case you wish to use an external mechanical button (for application like mail boxes,…) then you need a call extension pack 2441 (16 buttons) or 2008 (8 buttons). Connect the call extension pack to the “CN1” connector of the amplifier and to the external button. See below picture. The other end of the external button will go to the negative terminal of the amplifier.
We will keep you informed about new developments and essential advices for DUOX installations in order you to get comfortable with our new system.
